Yesterday, I graduated from Bournemouth University with a 2:1 in Communication and Media.

In the lead up to my graduation, I was suffering from pre-graduation jitters to the point where I could barely sleep from nerves! I was so concerned about what would actually happen on the day, whether I would fall off the stage and all sorts of other horrible things!

…but as per usual everything was fine! Walking across the stage to collect my certificate was one of the proudest moments of my life. Not to mention it was amazing to see the people who have become my best friends walk across the stage to collect their certificates too!

Nobody tells you how uncomfortable or how much of a faff the graduation robes are – so here I am, letting all you future grads know! For a start my head was too small for my mortarboard so it just looked a little silly, then I got my robe caught on a chair and almost fell which was embarrassing and finally sitting down was an absolute challenge, but (now I’m out of my gown and more comfortable) I loved being in my gown! I felt like I was about to be sorted into a Hogwarts house in the Great Hall!

My parents and boyfriend Jon came along to watch me graduate and it was really special having the three people (aside from my friends) who supported me throughout my degree.

I am so unbelievably proud of myself, especially for getting the 2:1 as I worked so hard, particularly in my final year and on my dissertation to get it! I’m also ridiculously proud of myself because the past three years have been somewhat difficult. Throughout my time at university my nan passed away, my great uncle passed away and so did my auntie. Not a day goes by where I don’t think about them and I really hope I’ve done them proud. I just wish they were still here to see my graduation.

This blog post has basically been a giant brag but I feel like some happy news is what the world needs right now!
