It’s my turn on the tour! Yay! Hope you enjoy….

The Dead of Winter explores the lives of the inhabitants of a single street in a small town. The story kicks off when it’s discovered that a young baby is missing from his cot and somehow his dad, who was the one in charge at the time, has no idea how it happened. The detectives assigned to the case find all the evidence points towards the teenage girl next door.

Books that jump from one family’s life to the next and link it all up in the end – like in Love Actually – are my favourite! I get totally hooked on them and this book was no different. I could not put it down, this book is absolutely gripping!

Each character had an interesting backstory and motive for their behaviours that were mostly hidden from their neighbours. I thought it was really interesting to explore the idea that the front people put on for their neighbours might not always be the truth.

I wish the book was longer than it was, not only because the ending felt a tad rushed but also because I wanted to know more! I wanted to know more about each character involved, what made them the way they are and why they’re doing what they’re doing! Please let there be a sequel!

  1. I don’t think I saw this review before. Thank you so much. I’m now wishing I had made it slightly longer – it started out as a much shorter novella, but it kept growing arms and legs. I’m glad that you found it enjoyable though. Thank you again and apologies for the delayed reply x
